Homeport

Homeport is a series of handwoven tapestry art that captures the colourful greetings of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.  Fibre artist Mary Anne Donovan was raised in a neighborhood on the fringe of downtown St. John’s called Georgestown and now raises her own family in the historic old town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. Both of her current and past hometowns are characterized by their seaports, with colourful architecture built into the hillsides, stacked rows of candy coloured houses and vibrant working waterfronts steeped in marine tradition, resilience and arts
